Therese, you are a wonderful teacher, you explain things very clearly, take time to help anyone who is struggling, you have a lot of patience and are able to communicate well with both adults and children alike.

We have been attending Therese’s day and evening classes and she has such a great teaching technique always with a sense of humour and infinite patience.

TheU3A Ballroom Dancing Classes held at the Penrith Ballroom Dancing Studio most capably taught by Therese Walz might also be described as wellbeing classes for seniors as they incorporate many of the skills and activities recommended to improve and maintain the mental, Social and physical aspects of Senior citizens lives.

The lessons are skilfully crafted by Therese, so that the steps and skills involved in each of the dances are developed at a pace suited to the needs of the participants, and are imparted with infinite patience (for which we males are very grateful).

The dances taught will allow the beginners to enjoy and take part in dancing at most social gatherings. A great feature is the happy atmosphere in which the classes are run and the encouragement given as we progress.

Numerous exercises are recommended by medical organisations for the maintenance of fitness, balance and flexibility. Many of these activities are a part of the dances taught.

Social aspects include the happy group of students who attend and the Saturday evening dance held once a month. Thank you Therese.

I have wanted to learn Ballroom Dancing all of my life, but somehow the years raced past and life got in the way.

At long last I am delighted to be in the U3A beginner’s Class and would like to say a big “thank you” to Therese Walz for your patience, your sense of humour and your dedication to teaching us how to dance well!

I would also like to thank you so much for giving your time and talent to us and to U3A so freely.

My fiance loves to dance, whereas I could not, and she wanted to dance at our wedding, not just stand there and sway.

Before we started our lessons I didn’t think it would be possible for me to learn to dance, until I met the principal of Penrith Ballroom Dance. I said to my fiance that she doesn’t know how lucky she was to find a teacher like Therese. Therese not only made me feel comfortable, but I actually enjoyed having lessons, so it was easy to continue.

We danced at our wedding with confidence, totally dumbfounding our guests, something I never thought would happen. Thank you Penrith Ballroom Dance and in particular – Therese!

After just 3 nights in the Adult Beginner Class, I attended my first Social Practice Night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of fun dancing with a group of happy friendly people in a relaxed atmosphere.

Before starting our lessons with Penrith Ballroom Dance we were apprehensive and somewhat nervous. We did not know the difference between a rumba, samba or cha cha cha. Even foxtrot, waltz and quickstep were just names of dances we had seen in crosswords. However, at our first lesson we were warmly welcomed and found how easy it was to take our first steps … literally.

We find Therese’s teaching style to be highly professional and extremely competent. She has developed us to where we can confidently take on various dancing challenges … socially and under examination conditions.

We highly recommend anybody to attend either the Penrith Ballroom Dance private lessons or join the scheduled group classes.

In my experience, learning to dance at Penrith Ballroom Dance has been fantastic. I first joined the studio when I was 12 years old and took part in the children’s beginners class. I worked hard and enjoyed every moment of it, progressing through the years and the medals.

I am now 16 years old and I have come so far with my dancing skills since that first day that I now have a private lesson of my own each week and have had the wonderful opportunity to assist my teacher with the children’s classes every week. In doing so I have had the opportunity to learn the man’s steps as well as the lady’s and have been given the experience of partnering the children in their medal tests.

My lessons are very fulfilling and each week I walk away feeling like I have ‘conquered’ a particular step or dance. I can only look forward to what I am about to learn next. I joined Penrith Ballroom Dance not knowing anybody, but quickly found myself at home with the friendly, fun but professional environment. I have found the teaching style at the studio to be dedicated and progressive. I look forward to every lesson and have grown to love ballroom dancing through my experience at Penrith Ballroom Dance.

I didn’t know there was so much to the Jive, I really enjoyed it. Other people show you steps, Therese teaches you how to dance.

When we started with Penrith Ballroom Dance, all we had was a vague idea that we wanted to do more than just move randomly in time with the music and we had looked enviously at those couples who could actually dance. Neither of us had the slightest idea of how to dance, we both had ‘two left feet’ and we were very nervous at appearing foolish and uncoordinated.

How wrong were we!! Our fears and apprehension were totally groundless, and the first lesson with Therese was fantastic, we were dancing together in an hour from introducing ourselves and not feeling at all nervous. The standard of teaching is extremely high, informative, easy to learn, tailored to individual standard but above all makes it easy to learn dances that we had only heard of….cha cha…jive…rumba…samba, to name but a few, and we are now keen to dance whenever we can.

Above all our experience at Penrith Ballroom dance is that it is FUN. We would recommend it highly as a great way to exercise and enjoy yourself.

As a lot of parents do, we wanted to provide the opportunity for our children to dance from an early age to develop their sense of rhythm and also confidence. Their first dance studio offered jazz ballet, tap and traditional ballet. This was nice at the start but after a couple of years, their routines were becoming a bit inappropriate for their age, and being a more conservative type, we have found that dancing style was not quite what we had in mind. Ballroom dancing however is a very elegant, graceful, traditional and respectful style so we looked around for a school that caters for young children.

We visited a couple of schools accepting young children but found that they were being operated more like a childcare centre rather than a ballroom school. We found Penrith Ballroom and it was exactly what we were looking for. Not only are the children taught ballroom dancing, there is discipline and respect, rather than organised chaos. Therese has many years of experience behind her and shows a lot of dedication and passion to ballroom and to all of her students. The lessons and medal programs are well structured and purposeful and always aim to achieve a high outcome, to the extent where our children were able to achieve high grades for their medals. Not only do we gain pride as parents, but the kids themselves feel satisfaction and pride knowing that the achievement has been earned rather than handed to them.

At Penrith Ballroom my children are socializing in a fun safe environment making friends while building up their confidence to be able to dance on the floor in front of a crowd. What more can we ask for….
