Our classes cover the 3 styles of ballroom dancing - Modern or Standard Ballroom eg waltz, slow foxtrot, tango; Latin American eg rumba, jive, samba, cha cha cha; and New Vogue Sequence Dancing eg Merrilyn, La Bomba, Gypsy Tap. The New Vogue dances are set sequence dances to the rhythms of the waltz, quickstep, foxtrot etc. Classes are on-going throughout the year.

Our Beginner classes are held on a Monday and a Tuesday evening in 8 week blocks. We cover 3 dances in each 8 week block. Sample of dances covered:

Slow Rhythm, Cha Cha Cha, Quickstep, Evening 3 Step, Samba, Waltz, Georgella Blues, Jive, Slow Foxtrot

For those who have completed our beginner blocks or who already know their basics, we have a class on a Thursday evening which covers more advanced dances and moves. This class also runs in 8 week blocks and will cover, depending on difficulty, up to 3 dances.

What to wear to class?

  • Clothing - Comfortable smart casual clothing
  • Footwear - proper ballroom dance shoes are required for all students. We ask that you have your shoes by your 4th week with us. Beginners, until you have your ballroom shoes, please wear firm fitting shoes, preferably court shoes for the ladies, no thongs, slip-ons, slides or scuff styles. The fine stiletto heels and work boots are equally unsuitable. Your teacher will discuss where to purchase your ballroom shoes.

Where to go to practice? We hold a Social Practice Night every month on a Saturday evening from February to November. See our Social Practice Night page for information.
